Sometimes a person needs a reminder of their destiny! I guess I got so worn down by all the hard years that I forgot to put them behind me and look toward my bright new future. I needed that push, Tank, and I'm glad you recognized that. For such a youngster, you're very wise.....and VERY brave.
I took your advice to heart, and I'm glad to report that today things seemed to go a little bit better for me. The FM said one ear is looking pretty good (though the other is still dreadful) and the bite wounds on my face and ears and arms are healing nicely. The swelling on my face continues to go down, too, and she thinks I might have (finally) gained a pound or two. I hope so, since my jaws are tired from chewing, but she gets hysterical if I don't eat, so I force myself, even when I'm not really hungry.
I have to say it's really cool to have my own name. I never had one before, so now I'm excited when the FM calls me, especially since I know she usually has a treat for me if I run right over. She said I'm like a panther in the night, slinking silently along. For such a big guy, I make NO noise - well except for my coughing and snuffling, though that's starting to get better too. When we were outside before, I heard the coyotes again, and I wasn't afraid - I called on my inner Ninja, just like Tank said, and I gave them a good bark. They shut right up!
I think from now on things are going to be looking up. I have a new lease on life, a new attitude, and new hair. I have new friends, and even two girlfriends who text me during the day and (I think) they might be fighting over me now that I look better. The FM said I could have my treasured mattress back soon. Clean freak that she is, she took it out when I started coughing and hacking so that it wouldn't get ruined. Yes, I have LOTS of soft blankets and fuzzies in my crate, but it's not the same as having a mattress, now is it? She said another day or so and I could have it back. I hope so! I have a job now, too. Remember I told you about all the laundry? Well, I decided to make myself useful and now I help take it out of the dryer and fold it. The FM LOVES it when I help her do that. just ask her, she'll tell you so!
Here I am today, looking stronger and healthier and more focused on getting better and enjoying life a littl bit. You can see my eyes now, too!
FM, thanks so much for all the wonderful things you are doing for the rescue bullies... you are truly an angel!! We have adopted 2 bullies over the years thru the ABA, and all of the rescue bullies hold a special place in my heart.
